should i bring flowers? i have a baby basket made for her also... should i just give that to her when she gets home?
Do you bring anything like gifts to the hospital when (my sister-inlaw) gives birth?
It's totally up to you! I think she would appriciate it though if you brought it to her house, just so they don't have to transport it. She would probably love you more if you brought HER a smoothie in her favorite flavor, rather than flowers! She's going to be tired of the hospital food after the first meal! New moms are physically recovering and need lots of good nourishment! I remember feeling so weak in the first day or two after my children were born - it takes a lot out of you. I was ravenously hungry, plus breastfeeding. Any food treats anyone made me were soooo appriciated! (My mom made me fresh blueberries, peaches and bananas once and I just devoured them!)
Hope I could help! I hope it all goes well!!!
Reply:Give her flowers only at the hospital. As a mom of three, it is a pain in the butt to load everything up from the hospital and then un pack it all when you get home. Just let her know that more presents await once they arrive home.
Reply:Flowers are a perfect gift for the hospital room and the basket will be so very welcome when she gets home. You're a very caring sister-in-law, sister and aunt!
Reply:We took flowers and home-made biscuits which were welcomed as an escape from hospital food! Something small for the baby might be nice but as the others said, the basket is a lovely idea for when they've got home.
Reply:I got flowers only in the hospital and when I came home, I had even more presents from family. It was good that they waited until we were home, because it was so hard to carry the baby, the flowers, and my hospital bag back. I mean, it wasn't too much, but the last thing I wanted was to have more things to drag home. I was so exhausted...even though my husband did most of the carrying.
Reply:Maybe a robe or blanket but dont bring anything for the baby because thats what the baby shower is for. And you dont want to have to carry all of that stuff and a baby home. Me and my boyfriend had to carry two bags a baby and a car seat. Too much stuff
Reply:Either way is permissible, which ever you decide, she will be more that grateful that you thought of her. But if it was me, I would wait and give her the baby basket that you made for her when she gets home, that way she won't have to worry about carrying extra items with her when she leaves the hospital.
Reply:It's always nice to get gifts while at the hospital, flowers will help make the room more personal and pretty. You could probably wait on taking the basket since they probably won't use the things in it until they get home and it will just take up space.
Reply:Flowers are always a nice idea to cheer up a hospital room. However, you might want to wait and bring them to her house instead. Reason for this: She has a lot of other things to bring home with her. When I had my second, I got so many things at the hospital that my husband had to make 2 trips to get everything in the car. I appreciated every one of those things but it was difficult getting a new baby, a sore mommy and all that other stuff ready to go.
